President John F. Kennedy, in his first inaugural address to the nation quoted Abraham Lincoln’s first inaugural address at the beginning of the Civil War. They said, “In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course.” As your Principal, I adopt the cadence of this statement by saying, “In your hands, students, more than mine and your teachers, will rest the final success or failure of YOUR course.” This statement is not just for school and graduation, but for the rest of your life.
